Music lovers and fans of the Maine Black Bear hockey team won't want to miss this! 

The Ice Breaker Tournament Block Party on Saturday, October 10th, will officially kick off the yearly The Ice Breaker Hockey Tournament which happens this year in Portland! It's FREE to attend and open to the general public!

This very exciting and FREE FUN FAMILY EVENT will happen between 1 and 5 p.m. in the parking lot behind 1 Portland Square, along Spring Street, right across from the Cross Insurance Arena, the site of this year's national tournament, which represents the official start of the NCAA hockey season!

The Block Party will feature live music from local Portland Artists, Hello Newman, Dean Ford & The Keepsakes, Ben Kilcollins & The Vargas Twins, and Kris Rodgers & The Dirty Gems!  You'll also get to see a special performance by the University of Maine Marching Band!

Besides great local music, there will also be food trucks lined up the street and a beer tent!

Make sure to bring the kids along as the Portland Pirates and the Maine Youth Hockey League will be hosting a special KIDS ZONE complete with Inflatable Hockey games and raffles. There will be special appearances from past UMaine hockey stars, team mascots, and dignitaries including Black Bear Coach Red Gendron.

Meanwhile, inside the Cross Insurance Arena, the Ice Breaker Hockey Tournament itself will begin Friday night, October 9th at 4:30 p.m. as Lake Superior State takes on North Dakota, which will be followed up at 8 p.m. by the UM Black Bears game as they play Michigan State.  Saturday's games get started again at 4:30 p.m. with Lake Superior State playing Michigan State, and then game two pits the Black Bears against North Dakota.  Tickets for the games are available at Ticketmaster at the Cross Insurance Arena Box Office.
