Here's your chance to cast a line and give it a try, because there's no need to have a fishing license this Saturday and Sunday!

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife's annual Free Fishing Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday, June 3rd and 4th.  Any person can fish on Maine's more than 6,000 lakes and 30,000 miles of rivers and streams without a license, as long as your license to fish is not currently suspended!

“It’s our hope that families would take advantage of this weekend, and of what Maine has to offer,” said Chandler Woodcock, Commissioner of Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. “Introducing new or young anglers to the sport is a great way to carry on the tradition of fishing in Maine and to teach the importance of conservation and wise use of our natural resources.”
