Future Of Air Travel

This has got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. They call it Air Whale and it carries 755 passengers and boasts a wing span of 88 m or over 288 ft. in width vs a Boeing 747 is 64 m or about 209 ft.

The other thing that blows my mind is this concept plane is said to have self-healing wings which not only repair themselves but also have a break-away feature in a crash. Sky Whale also has tilting engines that let it take-off on the spot.

On its 3 decks Sky Whale would carry 3 types of passengers tourist class with sky views, business class, first class.

The plane was designed by Viñals, based in Barcelona. They are quoted as saying, “the Sky Whale would be built out of advanced new materials made up of ceramic or fiber composites. It would have advanced 'active wings' powered by a hybrid turbo-electric propulsion system making them much more efficient than today.  The Sky Whale would have a double fuselage meaning it could go longer without refueling and would have micro solar cells on the wings so that it could draw power from the sun.
