Geaghan Brothers Brewing Company celebrated the opening of a new brewery in Brewer on Tuesday.

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony and Brewer Deputy Mayor Bev Uhlenhake presented brothers Larry, Peter, and Pat Geaghan with a key to the city.

According to a press release issued Tuesday, the new brewery is capable of producing eight times as much beer as the company’s brewpub on Main Street in Bangor.

The company says the new Brewer facility will allow the distribution of 6 and 12-packs of beer.

"I am very excited that they have chosen Brewer for their brewing and bottling operations,” said Brewer Mayor Matt Vachon. “On a personal note, I am especially excited because Geaghan’s Pub is one of my favorite restaurants in the area."
