The Governor unexpectedly stopped by a state budget forum last night at the Cumberland Town Hall and among other things, defended himself in his spat with Maine's most popular resident.

When asked by someone if he was planning on apologizing to writer Stephen King about initial remarks made within the Governor's Weekly Address a few weeks ago, LePage said, "I never said that, sir, so, I'm not going to apologize.  I never said Stephen King did not pay income taxes."

The following text was included in the original version of Governor Paul LePage's weekly address, but was removed before it aired:  "Well, today former Governor Ken Curtis lives in Florida where there is zero income tax.  Stephen King and Roxanne Quimby have moved away, as well."

Stephen King took exception to the statement, and some have demanded that the Governor apologize to the author.   The Governor's new state tax plan calls for eventually getting rid of state income tax.

During the forum last night the Governor went on to explain himself further, but that was not included in the video that was posted on the Maine Dems You Tube channel.
