Governor Orders Maine Flags in Bangor at Half-Staff on Thursday

Gov. Paul LePage has ordered that Maine state flags be flown at half-staff on Thursday in Bangor in memory of the city’s former police chief, Don Winslow. U.S. Flags are to be kept at full-staff.

Winslow died of cancer on Thursday, July 10th. He had successfully battled the disease a few years ago when both he and his wife were diagnosed. Winslow had entered his name as a candidate for Penobscot County Sheriff when he found out the cancer was back.

Lepage issued a statement today by press release:

“The First Lady and I send our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Winslow,” said Governor LePage. “His career in public safety, first as a firefighter, then as a police officer, exemplified the love he had for his community and his dedication to serving it.”

Maine State flags are to be flown at half-staff in Bangor from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, the day of Winslow’s funeral.
