A Hampden teacher has been suspended after allegedly breaking into a Bangor funeral home.

Bangor police confirmed Jacob Joy, 24, has been charged with burglary for allegedly forcing entry into a Bangor funeral home. Video surveillance images allegedly show Joy breaking the glass of the business on Center Street on Oct.13. Police say they caught up to Joy in Brewer a couple of hours later and he was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

Rick Lyons, superintendent of schools for RSU 22, confirmed for us Joy has been placed on administrative leave. He teaches English and social studies, according to his bio on the Hampden Academy website.

The incident remains under investigation.
