Get ready to drop a line! The 2015 Hancock County Ice Fishing Derby, the biggest derby in our area,  will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 21st and 22nd!

This year's Derby will kick off at 6AM that Saturday and features $3300 in prizes.  It's sponsored by G & M Family Market in Holden and is open to all legal bodies of water in Hancock County!

Prizes for the biggest salmon and togue include an ice auger, jet sleds, traps and gift cards. There will be cash prizes for bass, pickerel, brook trout, white perch, splake and brown trout. All fish must be caught  between 12:01am Saturday and the close of the Derby on Sunday at 4pm.  Have your fish weighed both days between 2 and 4pm.

Tickets are $15 and available at G & M Family Market in Holden. Children under 12 are free.

There's a special category for all public safety departments that will benefit Spruce Run - Woman Care Alliance, an agency that provides support  and information about abuse and domestic violence throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties, including the greater Bangor area, Lincoln, Millinocket, Newport, Dexter, and Dover-Foxcroft Maine.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle to benefit Camp CaPella, the summer camp on Phillips Lake in Dedham for kids and adults with metal and developmental disabilities.
