A Hancock man is facing drug charges after MDEA agents searched his Bangor hotel room.

Initially, Peter Chiumiento of Hancock was arrested at the Odlin Road hotel on several outstanding warrants. They included warrants for failure to appear on a traffic violation, drug possession charge, and unpaid fines for disorderly conduct. In addition he had warrants for violation of conditions of release. At the time of his arrest, Chiumiento had nearly $3,000 in cash, believed to have been proceeds from drug sales.

After his arrest, investigators got a search warrant for the motel room. Seized in that search Tuesday evening were several grams of heroin and other evidence that indicated Chiumiento was trafficking drugs out of the room

He's been charged with trafficking in heroin and was taken to the Penobscot County Jail. Bail has been set at $10,000 cash. The Hancock County Sheriff's Office and Bangor Police Department assisted the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in this investigation, which is continuing. More arrests are likely.
