A 19-year-old Hancock man is facing charges after a string of burglaries and a police standoff at his home.

Jacob Richardson was charged with receiving stolen property and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

He was also charged with creating a police standoff that occurred after police went to his home to execute a search warrant.

Chief Deputy Pat Kane told The Ellsworth American that Richardson made threatening movements or gestures towards police while holding a gun.

A 17-year-old girl who was at the home when police arrived was charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing government administration.

Police said the burglaries occurred in eastern Hancock County. Police started receiving reports of the burglaries in late October.

The thefts involved more than 20 different homes, camps and vehicles.

Police said the investigation into the burglaries is ongoing and additional arrests are anticipated.
