Let's face it hand free doesn't really count if you have to take your eyes off the road anyway, right?

Of course, it is no surprise AAA has found that using voice commands to send text messages and emails from behind the wheel is actually more distracting and dangerous than simply talking on the phone.

The pitch has been that hands-free devices are safer because they enable you to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. But talking on a hands-free phone isn't significantly safer than talking on a hand-held phone, and using hands-free devices that translate speech into text is the most distracting of all.
