Hanley Ramirez was the star in a wild 11-7 Red Sox win over the San Francisco Giants last night. Hanley hit three 2-run home runs and made several great defensive plays at first base.

By the end of the night, the Sox found themselves back in first place in the AL East.

The game started with an 8-0 Sox lead after three innings. Then newly acquired Drew Pomeranz imploded in the fourth inning. He gave up five runs, could not get an out and had to be taken out of the game. Pomeranz finished with this linescore - 3 Inn/8 Hits/5 Runs/2 BB/4 K.

Five Sox relievers slowed down the Giants. Matt Barnes got credit for the win after pitching three scoreless innings.

Travis Shaw and Sandy Leon also had home runs for the Sox.

For the first time this year the Sox are 13 games over .500 (53-39). The Sox victory, combined with a Baltimore loss, puts Boston in first place by a half game.
