Happy Birthday and goodbye.

12 years ago Apple released it's first iPod. Their release in 2001 was Apple's only non-computer product. Ah remember the click of the white wheel as you scrolled through up to 2,000 songs? They have certainly changed over the years! Now they feature touch screens, cameras, apps, internet connection, Bluetooth and can hold up to 40,000 songs. Sadly there may be no more in the pipeline.

It's been over a year since the last iPod innovation. Tuesday, Apple held another unveiling for it's latest software and iPads but no iPod. It might very well be the end of the gadget. Sales have dropped by 32% over the years and the tech king made no mention of anything else coming up.

iPods are still being sold in their various forms, from the Shuffle to the iTouch.

Bye-bye iPod, we'll make a playlist in your honor!
