Every week we will feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Unity!

Twenty-five Mile Pond Plantation, as it was first known, was settled by Quakers. The name was changed to Unity in 1804 and has lived up to its name with a unified town of culture, farming, learning, and all things outdoors.

Just over 2,000 year round residents call Unity home, but many are drawn here to Unity College or the very popular annual Common Ground Fair. If farming and agriculture are your cup of tea, Unity is the place to be.

Unity also boasts some beautiful streams like Twentyfive Mile Stream, Sandy Stream and Halfmoon Stream. The town is also boarded by Unity Pond or Lake Winnecook, the largest lake in Waldo County. The lake is popular for recreation all seasons especially fishing as it is stocked with trout and alewives.
