In June of 2013, six paintings were stolen from a Portland businessman, making it one of the biggest heists in Maine history. Four of the works were recovered from a pawn shop in California, but two remain missing.  Have you seen them hanging on someone's wall?

The paintings by N.C. Wyeth were stolen from the home of Portland developer Joseph Soley.  So far, three different men have been arrested.  Lawrence Estrella of Worcester, Massachusetts who took the paintings to California, Oscar Leroy Roberts, 37, of North Hollywood, California who turned in the paintings to the pawn shop, and Dean Coroniti, 55, formerly from Boston and now of North Hollywood, who was charged with possession of stolen property.

This morning, the FBI announced a reward of $20,000 that they hope will lead to the recovery of the paintings that were stolen from the apartment located in Monument Square in Portland.

The missing paintings are worth millions.  They are titled: Go Dutton, and that right speedily” and “The Encounter on Freshwater Cliff.”

N.C. Wyeth was the patriarch of a family of famous painters.  He son is Andrew Wyeth and his grandson is Jamie Wyeth.  Their paintings are shown periodically at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland.
