Toyota is giving away two cars per day to non profit agencies based upon popular vote. Eastern Area Agency on Aging wants a van to help pick up and deliver pet food to seniors or their loved pets and to help seniors get their pets to the vet..

There is a special bond between senior citizens and their pets. When spouses die and children leave home, the loving and loyal animal remains. It is the daily companion for the elderly person who otherwise would be alone. Sometimes finances force a senior to make difficult decisions such as giving up the animal because they can no longer afford to feed it. EAAA’s Furry Friends Food Bank strives to prevent the separation of senior and beloved pet by providing supplemental pet food. Donations of damaged containers of pet food come from big box stores across our 13,000 sq. mile, four county area. If a volunteer is unavailable to collect the food at the store’s designated time, we risk losing it which has a devastating impact on the seniors and their pets. A van will ensure consistent and timely pick-ups. We also will transport seniors, who no longer drive, to the veterinarian with their pets to ensure the animal stays healthy. We currently cannot provide this critical service.
