Cue the Jaws theme...

As you take a dip in the ocean this summer, you'll be swimming along side a few types of sharks! Shark sightings always spike in summer as folks venture into their turf, the ocean...duh. A lot of sightings go unconfirmed however. You'll be happy to know that sharks are migratory. So if you saw one last beach trip, it's probably long gone by now.

The Gulf of Maine is home primarily to porbeagles, thresher, mako, blue sharks and yes...the occasional Great White shark. You'll see most of them about six miles off shore. It's extremely rare for sharks to come close to shore.

Maine and New Hampshire have never had a reported shark attack.
