A reason well worthy.

Governor Paul R. LePage has directed all United States and State of Maine flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset today, Tuesday, May 15, because it is Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe,” stated Governor Paul R. LePage in yesterday's press release. “Recent events in our state serve as a sobering reminder of the sacrifice of these men and women, and of their families. It is important to pause and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

This week is "Police Week", a week that was designated back in 1962 by then President John F. Kennedy, where law enforcement officers gather in Washington D.C. to recognize those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the community that they had served in.
