Put on the walking shoes for a good cause!

The 20th annual Hike For The Homeless will take place in Bangor on Saturday, April 11th.

According to the Bangor Area Shelter's website,"over the past year, more than 2,000 individuals visited the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter in need of a clean, safe place to stay, a warm meal, and other supportive services."

You can help fund the effort by lacing up the sneakers and walking the Bangor Waterfront  A donation is not required to hike, but pledges are encouraged.  Register your team, your family, or just yourself HERE!

Individuals and members of teams can register for $15 each.  Remember, your dollars will go towards funding the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter on Main Street in Bangor.  They employ a staff of 12 full time employees, and besides shelter, they also provide crisis intervention and hot meals, among other services.  Needless to say, it's a very busy place.

There are four different starting locations for the hike, and you can also register one hour before the event.

Bangor:  Depart Bangor High School at 10:30AM.  Distance: 3.5 miles.

Brewer: Depart Eastern Maine Healthcare System at 10:30AM.  Distance: 3.3 miles

Hampden:  Depart Hampden Academy at 9:30Am.  Distance: 5.4 miles.

Hermon:  Depart the Sports Arena at 9:30AM.  Distance: 4.3 miles.
