The old Hilltop House Restaurant on Route 3 in Ellsworth, best known for its pizzas and onion rings back in the 1970s, has been sold again.  This time to the owners of China Hill.

According to an article in the Ellsworth American, the restaurant last know as Betty's Hilltop House, has been owned by at least by at least six different groups in the past 15 years.  The business was sold to the owners of China Hill restaurant on August 18th. They also purchased the piece of land next to the Hilltop House that was for sale or lease on September 2nd.

The new owners of the building and land have not yet disclosed their plans for the property.

China Hill started out in the building next to the Colonial Inn that currently houses the Elks Lodge on Route 3. They then built a new building to move into right down the hill, where they currently operate from.
