Clay Buchholz returned to the dominating pitcher fans remembered from the first half of last season in leading the Red Sox to an 11-0 win over the Astros.Buchholz struck out a career high 12 and allowed just 3 hits and no walks for his 4th win of the season. After the game Manager John Farrell announced that Buchholz will get the start to open the second half on the season following Tuesdays All-Star game.

Brock Holt provided the bulk of the offense collecting 5 hits, including a home run, an rbi and a run scored. Christian Vazquez added 2 hits and 2 rbi. Mike Carp and David Ortiz also drove in 2 runs each.

Despite the win, the Sox have put up their worst first half record since 1997 at 43-52.Boston will start the second half of the season at home against Kansas City on Friday.
