The title of the 1989 family comedy 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' pretty much explains the plot.

In the movie, an inventor played by Rick Moranis ends up shrinking his two children and two neighborhood kids to a quarter-of-an-inch tall and then has to figure out how to un-shrink them.

‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ was a big hit for Disney and spawned a theatrical sequel, a 3-D short that was played at Disney theme parks for years and, lastly, a direct-to-video follow up.

See what the cast from the original movie is up to these days.

Then: Moranis channeled his famed nerdy persona to play struggling inventor Wayne Szalinski, whose latest creation ends up inadvertently miniaturizing his offspring and two of their pals. The Canadian actor had been known for his comedic roles in films like 'Ghostbusters,' 'Spaceballs' and 'Little Shop of Horrors.'

Now: A widower, Moranis retired from acting in 1997 so he could raise his children. His 2005 musical comedy record ‘The Acrophobic Cowboy’ was nominated for a Grammy Award. Rumor has it he may return to his Louis Tully character for 'Ghostbusters 3,' but nothing is official yet. In the meantime, his retirement has been the subject of viral video song parodies and Facebook campaigns.

  • Marcia Strassman, Diane Szalinski

Then: Strassman played Wayne’s understanding wife Diane. Starting out as a singer, her biggest acting role had been as Julie Kotter on the seminal '70s sitcom 'Welcome Back, Kotter.'

Now: The 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' franchise aside, Stassman has seen most of her success as a TV actor. In 2003 she starred in the Sci-Fi Channel series 'Tremors' and her last acting appearances was on the short-lived 2006 sitcom 'Twenty Good Years.'

  • Amy O'Neill, Amy Szalinski

Then: O’Neill played Amy, the Szalinski’s teenage daughter and victim of miniaturization. She had previously been a series regular on the soap opera 'The Young and the Restless.'

Now: Dismayed that many of the adult roles she was getting offered required nudity, O'Neill quit acting soon after reprising her Amy role in 'Honey, I Blew Up the Kids.' She became involved with the circus and these days is a performance artist and expert stilt-walker. In 2008, she appeared in the indie film 'The Japanese Sandman.'

  • Robert Oliveri, Nick Szalinski

Then: You may remember Oliveri as Nick, the Szalinski’s young son. The next year he appeared in another little brother role as Kevin in 'Edward Scissorhands.'

Now: The 1994 short 'Honey I Blew Up The Audience' was Oliveri’s last credit. He graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and now lives in Florida with his wife and daughter. No recent photos of the actor exist. If you've him lately, please let us know!

Then: In 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,' Brown was teen neighbor Russ Thompson, Jr., who explores his crush on Amy at less than an inch tall. The son of a cattle rancher, Brown scored his first movie, the 1985 Western 'Silverado,' in part because he was skilled on a horse.

Now: In 2012 Brown starred in the horror flick 'The Mooring.' It was his first part since a small role in the 2007 direct-to-video Steve Seagal kill-a-thon 'Urban Justice.'

  • Jared Rushton, Ron Thompson

Then: You probably remember Rushton as neighborhood boy Ron Thompson, who hits the wayward baseball that sets the shrink ray into action. Ruston already had a decent movie resume by the time he did ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,' with prominent roles in 'Overboard' and 'Big' (he was Tom Hanks' childhood pal).

Now: Ruston hasn’t done any acting in the last decade, and instead plays guitar in the band Deal by Dusk.

  • Matt Frewer, Russ Thompson, Sr.

Then: Frewer played Russ Thompson, Sr., who understandably doesn't believe that his two kids has been rendered tiny by his mad scientist neighbor. Frewer was best known for portraying the artificial intelligence character 'Max Headroom,' who was featured in movies, commercials and a TV show during the '80s.

Now: Frewer plays recurring characters on two sci-fi series, 'Falling Skies' and 'Eureka.' He was also recently a cancer patient in the Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie '50/50.'

Then: Sutherland was Mae Thompson, who was a bit more open than her husband to the explanation that her missing children were just really, really small. At that point, 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' was by far her biggest role.

Now: Sutherland is best known for her run as Buffy's mom on the TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' Recently she played a recurring character on 'One Life to Live' and is featured in the Showtime series 'Episodes.'
