I know like we need another sign that winter is bearing down on us here in Maine.  Yet this one is kind of a fun one brought to our attention by my friend Bob Duchesne.

Bob is an active outdoorsman and member of the Maine Audubon where he often leads hikes and seminars at the Fields Pond Chapter. In this video he catches the Canadian geese starting to make their annual migrate south filling ponds and fields in Maine, mostly in Aroostook County. At this time of year we watch as ponds in Caribou, Mars Hill and Washburn  fill up with these beautiful if not a little noisy birds. Smart birds too, Bob tells how by day, the geese feed in agricultural fields post-harvest. By night, they will often gather in areas where they are safe from hunters and predators.

They are so beautiful, here is a little more.
