More than 1,500 Emera Maine customers are without power in the Ellsworth area, as crews work to repair the problem.

Emera Maine said in a press release today that 1,528 customers have been affected by a power outage today. Electrical power has been interrupted in the towns of Amherst, Aurora, Clifton,Ellsworth, Great Pond, Mariaville, Otis, Penobscot, and Waltham.

Crews have been deployed and are patrolling the power lines, trying to determine what caused the outage. They will have power restored as soon as possible. In the meantime, customers are reminded to use generators in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines and to avoid coming in contact with fallen power lines.

In addition, motorists are urged to change lanes, if possible, and use caution when approaching utility crews working alongside the road.
