Tonight’s featured artists started out with more of a blues style and sound until they made a musical departure to  a more new wave sound similar to the Police or Cars. This change in musical direction gave them their biggest hit single, put them on tour with the Rolling Stones and smack dab on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. If you’re thinking J. Geils and the song ‘Centerfold’ bing, bing, bing! The J. Geils band were signed with Atlantic Records and had made a name for themselves as a great live blues band. However, with “Centerfold” they changed their style to a more New Wave sound and in the process changed their future.’Centerfold’ was their biggest hit, earning them a slot touring with The Rolling Stones, the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and heavy rotation on the new cable network MTV with a video showing the band playing in a classroom surrounded by girls in Catholic school uniforms.( Video below)  This song was written by the band's keyboard player Seth Justman, who wrote or co-wrote all the tracks on the Freeze Frame album.
