Tonight’s features artist when asked what they should put into a film being made about a Woodstock type concert on the Isle of Wight he suggested  "an empty field at the beginning and at the end to show they picked up all their trash so they appear as a group of invisible gypsies, not a sign that they were there". Who was trying to set such a good impression for this generation back in the 70’s ? Give you a hint after this band broke up he took up with some very bad company.

Did you guess Paul Rogers and the band Free? Well spotted. The English rock band Free was formed in 1968. They are best known for tonight’s featured song, their 1970 signature song "All Right Now". After disbanding in 1973 lead singer Paul Rodgers went on to become a frontman of Bad Company along with Simon  Kirke on drums. Just a few of the other artists at the event were Jimi Hendrix, Moody Blues, Supertramp, Chicago, the Who  and the list goes on and on.  And did they leave the Isle of Wight landscape unscathed? I can’t find a record of the outcome but given the estimated 700,000 people in attendance it seems pretty likely someone could tell they were there.

However I did find a Wikipedia quote on the event: "By the end of the festival the press representatives became almost desperate for material and they seemed a little disappointed that the patrons had been so well behaved."
