Tonight’s featured artists had a hard time settling on a name but when they finally did it was after a 17th century prostitute.  Can you guess the band?

A friend well acquainted with the band tells the story:  Before being named "Molly Hatchet" in 1975, they changed their name so often that by the time they got back to playing the same club 6 weeks later, nobody knew who they were. One day during a rehearsal, it was decided that they were going to pick a name and stick with it. Each member of the band wrote a name on a piece of paper and all of them were put in a hat. The plan was that the LAST name drawn would be the name of the band and that is what they would go with. The last name pulled out of the hat, chosen by Bobby Maddox - the bands lead singer, was "Molly Hatchet." The other guys didn't understand how he chose that name. Bobby explained about a tale he had once heard of "Hatchet Molly", a 17th century prostitute who beheaded her lovers with a hatchet. Not neat but effective I’m sure.

And tonight's song rumor has it was originally named Flirtin' with my Sister...could have been a disaster!
