I-95 Drive Home Mystery Artist [VIDEO]

Tonight’s mystery artist said in an interview back in 1979 that if you want to be signed to a record contract grab a guitar get the right haircut and head to LA. Can you guess who this might be??

Our young mystery artist was in Toronto when he gave this revelation that record companies in LA will sign anyone…including him I guess.  However in Tom Petty’s case I believe it was the right thing to do and history proves me right.  He went on to say that money was falling off trees in LA, guess that was back in ’79. Guess the late 70s into the 80s was a heyday for lots of businesses and I'm sure MTV's launch in '81 just added to the din. As for Tom, he has always had a love hate relationship with record companies and it appears from this interview his respect for them has always been about the same.

To that fact tonight’s featured song was written by Petty in response to an altercation with a record label.
