Tonight’s mystery artist wrote a rock opera that he recently transformed into a classical symphony version that was performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and broadcast on PBS. Can you guess the artist or the rock opera??

This artist is a leading icon of British music and has been so since the 1960s and according to his own webpage Pete Townsend has gone from smashing guitars and penning teenage anthems to now creating a classical version of the rock opera, turned movie now turned symphony 'Quadrophenia'. Pete along with Alfie Boe, Billy Idol and Phil Daniels recently performed the new incarnation of the rock classic before a live audience at the Royal Albert Hall that has been airing on PBS since last November.
