Tonight’s mystery artist was doing a sound check and started fooling around with riffs inspired by the New Orleans funks band The Meters and what came forth would be one of their best known songs. Think you can guess who made some funk of their own??

Wikipedia cites: Back in December of ’74 The Guess Who was performing in Hawaii. During a sound check their opening band Aerosmith’s Joe Perry started playing around with some riffs. He had recently been turned onto a New Orleans funk band called “The Meters” by friend Jeff Beck. According to Perry he had been think about their sound, particularly their songs ‘Cissy Strut’ and People Say’ The guitar riff he came out with would evolve into ‘Walk This Way’

"Walk This Way" went on to be one of two hit singles by Aerosmith to hit the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the 70s, "Walk This Way" helped Toys in the Attic to be their bestselling album, and one of the most critically acclaimed.
