Tonight’s mystery artists have one of their hits which contains a cow bell that multiple members want to claim they played. Think you know the song or band??

I don’t know that I have ever noticed the cow bell in “Don’t Fear The Reaper” written by Blue Oyster Cult’s Buck Dharma. Fact is, the song was originally recorded without a cowbell, but the sound was overdubbed into the song at a later stage. According to Wikipedia, There exists a disagreement in the band as to who actually played the bell. Bassist Joe Bouchard remembered the producer requesting his brother, drummer Albert, to play the cowbell on the track. Joe Bouchard recalled: "Albert thought he was crazy. But he put all this tape around a cowbell and played it. It really pulled the track together." However, producer David Lucas says that he was the one that played the cowbell, and guitarist Eric Bloom supports Lucas's claim. No word from the cow they stole it from.
