Tonight’s mystery artist was announced today that he had beat out John Mellencamp, Jimi Hendrix and Madonna to name just a few for a spot in the song writers Hall of Fame Think you know who he is??

The song Writers Hall of Fame webpage announced today that Tom Petty would be inducted in June of this year along with Elvis Costello, Marvin Gaye, Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards and Chip Taylor will become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization’s 47th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner.  To the credit of this year's inductees are great songs like “Alison,” “Sexual Healing,” “Free Fallin’,” “Le Freak,” and “Wild Thing.” This year's induction event will be held Thursday, June 9th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.  A few of my disappointments from the nominee list  for me was Jimi Hendrix and George Harrison not making it in. Boo Hiss. Oh well there is always next year.

Here is tonight’s featured song, from 'Damn The Torpedoes Tom Petty wrote this song but wanted J. Geils to perform it but his producer talked him out of it. Ironically ‘ Don’t Do Me Like That’ is supposedly written about music companies. I think this time he’s ok with it.
