Tonight’s mystery artists had a hit song that when they performed it live they would be preface it with this is the story of an old Welch witch. Can you guess the song or band??

Well if I name the witch I’ll give away the song because her name was Rhiannon. Wikipedia has a lot of information and myths about her some that include magic. I am sure this pleased Stevie Nicks who many say is a practicing white witch. Story is that before live performances of the song sometimes Nicks would say, "This is a song about an old Welsh witch." During 1975–1980, Fleetwood Mac's live performances of "Rhiannon" took on a theatrical intensity not present on the FM-radio single. The song built to a climax in which Nicks' vocals were so impassioned that, as drummer and band co-founder Mick Fleetwood said, "her Rhiannon in those days was like an exorcism.

As for the more general definition, Wikipedia sums Rhiannon up as: a strong minded otherworld woman, who chooses Pwyll, prince of Dyfed (west Wales), as her consort, in preference to another man to whom she has already been betrothed. Rhiannon is highly intelligent, politically strategic, and famed for her wealth and generosity.
