Tonight’s mystery artist and recent member of the song writers hall of fame once penned a tune that he thought sounded so much like the J Geils band he tried to give it to them but his producer talked him out of it.  Any guess who our song writer might be or the song??

Good thing  his producer Jimmy Lovine heard a hit in the song "Don't Do Me Like That" because it was Jimmy who convinced Tom Petty to record the song himself. Tom did just that with his band the Heartbreakers and after being released as a single in 1979 from the album ‘Damn the Torpedos’  it reached number 10 on the UC Billboard Hot 100 making it Tom’s first Top 10 hit. Tom Petty was inducted into the Song Writers Hall of Fame last week on June 9th.

Here is tonight's featured song.
