Tonight’s mystery believes that because most music is downloaded today instead of a trip to the record store and owning a record you hold in your hands that we will see the longevity with new artists that we see with classic rock artists.  Think you know who might have this opinion??

I found this quote in a drummer’s resource podcast with current Steve Miller Band drummer Gordy Knudtson.  He thinks that todays fans have a different cultural experience with their music. He believes is that the lack of the event for going to the store and the not having the physical experience of owning of a record  and looking at the covers etc. will have today’s artists 20 or 30 years from now fading away. Versus the gig he is playing with Steve Miller where he says he going to keep going with Steve as long as he can and Steve never seems to want to quit.

Aside from his playing  with the Steve Miller band Knudson is a master teacher and has authored six drum method books, has produced many method DVDs and videos and is the founder and head of the Percussion Department at McNally Smith College in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In addition to his teaching and playing, Gordy is also the president and owner of GK-Music, makers of the high isolation stereo headphones, Ultraphones. His best quote when it comes to making personal changes so you enjoy what you do he said “Happy people do good work”

Here is tonight's featured song with Gordy on the drums.
