Tonight’s mystery artist wrote a song about a person so obsessed with television he actually thought the characters he watched were his friends.  Can you guess the song or the song writer??

Ok we’ll start with the song, aptly titled “Turn It On Again”  which according to Wikipedia follows the story of a man who watches his TV so much he becomes obsessed with the people he watches on it, believing them to be his friends.  And although that is a story that could have been written about a person in this age it was actually released in 1980 and was written by tonight’s featured artist Mike Rutherford, founding member of Genesis. Still with the band today Mike is one of only two original members of the band.  He was originally the bass player and background vocals but upon the departure of Steve Hackett from the band he stepped in as lead guitarist.  A brilliant song writer along with tonight’s featured song Mike wrote the lyrics to many Genesis hits including, ‘Follow You Follow Me’, ‘Land Of Confusion’ and ‘Throwing It All Away’.  Tonight’s song bearing Mike lyrics ‘Turn It On Again’ made it to 8 in the UK and 58 in the US on the charts.

Mike was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Genesis back in 2010. And he also formed the well know band Mike and the Mechanics.

Here is tonight’s featured song:
