Tonight’s mystery artists hail from Florida and it isn’t Tom Petty.  Know who our other Floridians might be??

Now most classic rock fans know the Tom Petty hails from Gainsville Florida coincidentally during Petty’s formative years during the 70s  another group was forming in Jacksonville. Floridians Rickey Medlocke (also of Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Greg T Walker were playing in together in a band that would one day move to Gainesville, FL then  to Manhattan, NY and become Blackfoot.

Blackfoot is an American Southern Rock band from Jacksonville, FL. organized during 1970. Though they are primarily a Southern rock band, they are also known as a hard rock act.The band's classic lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist Rickey Medlocke, guitarist Charlie Hargrett, bassist  Greg T Walker, and drummer Jakson Spires.

The band had transitioned over the years from Fresh Garbage to Hammer when they moved to NY. During the early spring of 1970, the band, after learning of another band on the West Coast named Hammer, decided to change their name to Blackfoot to represent the American Indian heritage of band members Walker, Spires and Medlocke
