Tonight’s mystery artist said that in his generation if they’d have offered the public music by someone who’d won a talent show they’d have been laughed out of the room. Any guess who he might be??

It was in an interview with the show Q on CBC  in a conversation about fame that Tom Petty commented on the way today we have, as he put it, disposable fame in the recording industry.  He added that back in the record industry he “Grew up” in what he refers to as “Game show” talent would have been laughed out of the room. He says he can’t keep up with who is considered now and as for the competition shows he doesn’t watch any of them.
