Tonight’s mystery artists helped along by Ronnie Van Zant before his passing were being courted by Warner Bros for a record contract but were eventually passed over when the record company signed Van Halen instead. Any guesses which band had to endure this set back to their dreams??

This story found in the pages of Wikipedia tells the painful story of Molly Hatchet. According to the page Ronnie had helped with some of their arrangements and Molly Hatchet had cut their demos in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s studios. After being sought after and ultimately rejected by Warner Bros. The band went back to the bar circuit and were eventually picked up by Epic Records in 1977.
