I-95 Drive Home Mystery Artist [VIDEO]

Tonight’s mystery artist one of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers wrote a song that he hoped might go on their nest album but Tom didn’t think it fit the sound. After that the song was picked up by another artist and made into a hit.  Can you guess the Heartbreaker or the song??

I found this musical tidbit from an interview with Heartbreaker Mike Campbell and Songfacts. According to Mike the album Tom was working on was Southern Accents and the song Mike was pitching was Boys Of Summer.  After being shot down Tom’s producer Jimmy Iovine told Mike, Don Henley was looking for some new songs so Mike gave him a call and played it for him and he rest is rock and roll history.

Talented guy Mike is going on tour with Fleetwood Mac this year. Here he is with tom and tonight’s featured song.
