Tonight’s mystery artists had a phase when they took a break from rock and roll and put out a few country songs.  This was long before Steven Tyler ever got the idea.  Think you know the band that crossed over and then hurried back??

This little country ditty was found on the site Zoomer about none other than the Rolling Stones.  Turns out that Keith was buddies with a country singer named Gram Parsons and from that friendship sprung the idea of the Stones doing a few tunes for the Country and Western audience. Two of the more notable efforts were Dead Flowers and Honky Tonk Woman.  The story goes on that Mick was never really comfortable singing country, he felt more suited to singing the blues.

Here they are with tonight's featured song.

Wanna hear Mick twang a little?

The Stones were such good friends with Gram they let him record Wild Horses first. This video shows him jamming with Keith.
