Tonight’s mystery artists were put on the map by Woodstock. Oddly enough, their biggest hit would be described as the extinction of their Hippie dreams from the 60.  Can you guess the song or the disillusioned hippie band??

I found this bit of a sad tale on Ultimate Classic Rock about the band Ten Years After. After being pushed into the spotlight by Woodstock they had many successful songs and albums. Their biggest hit however and their only Top 40 song was the song that was less optimistic and somewhat sad in reference to the true nature of thing.  The song is ‘I’d Love to Change The World’. UCR describes it this way:

The '60s were over, the hippie dream gone with them, and Alvin Lee joined others in trying to come to terms with a new decade and a new reality. "I'd Love to Change The World" surveys that landscape and, not surprisingly, comes up without a concrete answer. The song oozes with a certain sadness, and yet is achingly beautiful all the while. Lee also fashions one of his finest and most emotional leads here. For many, "I'd Love to Change The World" stands as the soundtrack to that post-Woodstock state of mind, and it's still a staple on classic rock radio decades later.

Bummer dude.

Here they are with tonight’s featured song and a bonus tune too.
