In the late seventies the New Wave revolution was in full force! Popular bands like The Knack and The Clash were selling thousands of 8-Tracks and cassettes!  The Cars, a band out of Boston would catch that wave too!

The Cars played their first gig ever at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire in 1976 and their career would last until February of 1988.

The band consisted of singer and guitarist Ric Ocasek, bass player and vocalist Benjamin Orr (who would pass away of pancreatic cancer in 2005), lead guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson.

June of 1978 saw the first song by The Cars to hit the charts, it was "Just What I Needed!"  It was quickly followed by "My Best Friend's Girlfriend" and "Let The Good Times Roll!"

IN 2005, a few of the members got together to re-form the band with Todd Rundgren, and call themselve "The New Cars", but the tour was short-lived.  The band also recorded a new album in 2010 that had limited success.
