I-95 Rock And Roll Trivia [MUSIC VIDEO]

Tonight’s mystery artists once had an extensive laser show on tour that the government made them shut down. Think you know who they are??

Funny too because I actually saw this show at the Bangor Auditorium back in the 70’s when Blue Oyster Cult performed here in town. Turns out according to Eric bloom via Vintage Rock the lasers I saw were something very cutting edge and expensive at the time. Eric tells how Sandy Pearlman found a guy giving laser shows at his house. He took Eric over to check it out and Eric reaction was:

When I saw what this guy did, I said, “Wow.” Pearlman said, “Well, it’s going to be expensive. Do you really wanna do it?” And I said, “Absolutely.” So we jumped on it. It was good and bad on some levels. It got us some notoriety and made our show quite outrageous. On the other hand, the expense was crushing. After a year and a half or so, we stopped doing it.

Turns out there were some OSHA investigations of the shows back in the those days and then hearings in Washington as to laser safety. In the end their laser guy went to Washington and was told why they couldn’t use laser anymore. Eric did add that although at the time there were stories about someone losing their vision from a show that never happened.
