One of four ice castles in the United States in here in New England.

Lincoln, New Hampshire.in home to an acre-sized ice castle. The frozen art is now open and drawing lots of attention. It features archways, tunnels, an ice slide and waterfalls that are lit up with colored lights frozen into the ice.

The process of making these impressive displays involves sprinkler systems that spray water onto metal racks to create thousands of icicles. The icicles are then collected and stuck to the ground around sprinkler heads. Then they're drenched in water and grow into different shapes and formations depending on the temperature and wind.

Utah based company, Ice Castles, made the massive fortress. Owner Brent Christensen started the company after finding enjoyment in building slides and frozen towers for his children in his backyard.

Other castles opening this winter are in Utah, Minnesota and Stratton Mountain in Vermont.
