I don’t know about you but all I saw in the sky last night in the Bangor area was lightning and lots of clouds.  Yet I knew even as I took my walk this morning somewhere above the clouds the moon was putting on quite a show.

A red moon was visible in some parts of the world including the US, just not here due to weather. If you haven’t heard these events are known as a 'blood moon' owing to the red color of the moon
It occurs when the moon passes in to the shadow of Earth called the umbra.  The event is quite rare but the moon is currently going through a sequence of four blood moons called a tetrad. Before today the last was on 15 April 2014 and the next will be on 4 April 2015. There are also biblical prophecies that relate to this phenomenon
