Actor Patrick Dempsey was in Maine over the weekend for the Dempsey Challenge, a charity run/walk/cycle event that benefits the Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, and it's no surprise that his fans were happy to see him!

Dempsey and his sisters started the center in 2008 as a way to give back to the community where they grew up and in honor of their mother, who passed away from cancer last year. And each year at the end of September, Patrick returns to Lewiston-Auburn for this multi-faceted event to help call attention to and raise funds for the facility.

I was looking through YouTube today at some of the videos of this year's challenge, when one title, from the Sun Journal, caught my eye. It referred to stalking the actor, and made me remember a few weeks ago when I was posting pictures of Patrick on my Facebook page. He'd been spotted at several local businesses and I lamented that I was never in the right place to catch sight of him.

I'm not sure, if I did see him, that I'd have the guts to walk up and speak to him, let alone ask him for a selfie. But, as the video will show, that's not true of most people, especially if they're participating in the Dempsey challenge! This quick clip will give you an awesome look into what it must be like to come home when you're an actor best-known for the role of 'McDreamy' on 'Grey's Anatomy.' It goes something like...walk two steps, take a selfie. One more step, two more selfies! What a great sport he is to stop and smile and wrap his arm around people he doesn't know, all in support of a wonderful cause.

Hmmm.....maybe I need to take part in NEXT year's Dempsey Challenge!
