John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks + More to Join Dave Grohl’s All-Star Sound City Players Band
The band Dave Grohl has assembled to support his ‘Sound City’ documentary wouldn’t fit into the legendary studio at one time. John Fogerty and Fleetwood Mac‘s Stevie Nicks are just two of Grohl’s Sound City Players. The group will make their live debut on Jan. 18 at Park City Live.
The concert is in connection with the Sundance Film Festival, where the film will be shown. A new trailer says the film will be made available in February. Other artists to join Grohl include his former Nirvana and Foo Fighters bandmates, Alain Johannes, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk.
Most of these artists will also appear on the soundtrack to ‘Sound City,’ which will be available on March 12. “After each premiere we could have a show with musicians,” Grohl told Rolling Stone last month. “They’d not only play music from the film, but from their catalogs as well. We aren’t far away from this. Pretty soon, everyone will hear what our big plan is.”
Rock fans now know to trust Dave Grohl when he makes a promise. The ‘Sound City’ documentary tells the history of the legendary studios in Los Angeles. Watch the trailer below to see some of the famous albums recorded there.
