When I was a kid I loved Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book'. And I was please to see it is coming to town in a new form...for me anyway.  A separation I imagine from anything Disney like. This may be more like the ballet written by a 15 year old prodigy Alex Prior called Mowgli done in Moscow.  Guess we'll have to go see.

The Robinson Ballet company will be performing a ballet inspired by the book this weekend.

For those who don't know the story trace the life of the Mowgli, a boy found in the jungle of India by a black panther named Bagheera and raised by wolves as one of their own.

A man-eating tiger named Shere Khan has returned to the jungle making it unsafe for Mowgli to stay there any longer. The Robinson Ballet's webpage says the story takes us on the adventure of Mowgli’s return to the man village.

Along the way he encounters many characters including Kaa the python snake, an elephant patrol, a sloth bear named Baloo, a gang of monkeys and their leader King Louie, four vultures that befriend him and finally Shere Khan the tiger!

Performances will be held this weekend May 17 & 18 at 3:00pm at Gracie Theatre tickets are $10.00

Sounds like fun for the  whole family!
