The second annual Landowner Appreciation Cleanup Day happens this Saturday, and Maine Forest Rangers are asking for your help!

Private owners who allow people onto their land for various reasons experience illegal dumping and this Saturday is the day that we show our appreciation to those owners by cleaning up the mess left behind.

50 illegal dump sites have been identified over the past year from various complaints to the Maine Forest Service.  The Service will supply trucks and bags to haul away the trash.  Most transfer stations will then accept the trash free of charge this Saturday.

To volunteer for the clean up call 800-750-9777.   More information can be found on the Maine Forest Ranger's Facebook page. The Maine Forest Service hopes that various Boy Scout Troops, Snowmobile Clubs, hikers and hunting clubs will join in the effort!
